Affordable housing is in Guild’s DNA. Since our first year in business, in 1960, our goal has always been to help homeowners into homes and to help keep them there. Currently, Guild is one of the nation’s leaders in providing potential homebuyers with down payment assistance programs and other products to help them get into homes they may otherwise not have been able to obtain. For example, we offer over 312 different Housing Finance Agency (HFAs) products that are aimed at serving homebuyers with low- to moderate-income. We also recently introduced a unique, 1% down product to help more people into homes. Through this program, the homebuyer puts one percent down and Guild provides a two percent grant, creating three percent in equity at the time of purchase. That means a homebuyer can own a $200,000 home with a $2,000 down payment. We do not increase interest rates to pay for the cost of our grant because we believe that helping people become homeowners is the right thing to do. Since we introduced the program in June, we have helped nearly 500 homeowners across the country to make use of this unique program. If you have questions about this or any other Guild product, be sure to ask your local loan officer.
